Debra Wunderly

Intimacy Life Coach and Trauma Recovery Coach

When I began my personal healing journey, I was in a dark place emotionally and spiritually.  I felt trapped and hopeless, undeserving of any good aspects of my life, and I didn’t trust anyone – including myself.  How did I evolve from wanting to end my life to finding personal empowerment, fulfillment, passion, and connection with self, others, and the God of my experience?  I had a lot of help from a lot of different sources, and today I am energized by sharing what I’ve learned with others on a similar journey.

As a missionary in Chile in the early 1990’s, I learned how to deeply listen to others and share from my heart about my personal spiritual beliefs and experiences.  To this day, I still regularly share – in English or Spanish – about Christian beliefs, Biblical values, and spiritual principles that help us access God’s enabling power to do what we cannot do alone.

I worked with children for many years before I married and became a mother to four children of my own.  As a young mom, I received training as a parent education facilitator, and I created a companion program for children to learn the same concepts their parents were being taught in the STAR Parenting program.  These same concepts, along with others I’ve learned along the way, have been helpful in  healing families from the devastating impact of sex addiction.

I have experience with and respect for both faith-based and secular Twelve-step recovery programs.  In the “rooms of recovery,” I learned the true meaning of intimacy.  As an author, facilitator, and sponsor, I have helped people of many backgrounds and belief systems and from many different parts of the world to understand and apply spiritual principles that help them heal from sex addiction, betrayal trauma, and intimacy avoidance, and to cultivate deeper closeness and connection with themselves, with others, and with the Higher Power/God of their understanding.

As I awakened to the impact of trauma I experienced early in my life and started healing through Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, Brain Spotting, Safe and Sound Protocol, and other modalities, I began sharing what I was learning with others as a Life Coach that focuses on intimacy.  I have years of experience helping people understand, cope with, and heal from symptoms of sexual, emotional, and spiritual trauma.  I have supported people dealing with Complex PTSD, problems with dissociation, eating disorders, compulsive sexual avoidance, sex addiction, people of all genders suffering from betrayal trauma due to their partner’s sex addiction, and much more.  I also know from experience that our minds, bodies, and spirits are highly resilient, and amazing growth and change can happen when we feel seen, heard, and supported, and are given the tools we need to help us access the healing power within us.
