Facing…Problems
In Facing...Problems, we start to break through denial, understand the nature of addictive illness, understand sexual addiction, and understand the process of entering recovery. This is appropriate if you think you have a sex addiction or you are not sure and you want to find out more about these topics.
Group participants will grow in the following life skills:
Understanding the characteristics of denial and self-delusion
Identifying the presence of self-delusion in your life
Understanding your personal preference patterns of thought distortion
Accepting and properly utilizing healthy confrontation
Knowing about addictive illnesses and applying that information to your personal life
Understanding sexually compulsive patterns
Understanding arousal templates
Knowing personal limitations
Discerning the difference between controllable and non-controllable events
Group participants will grow in these life skills by completing some of the following exercises:
Creating and sharing a problem list, secrets list, excuses list, and consequences inventory
Learning 14 ways to distort reality and discussing those strategies in your personal life
Accountability and Victim Empathy Exercise
Mapping personal addictive system
Applying criteria of addictive illness to personal behavior
